NBA: The Golden State Warriors outclass the Boston Celtics and find the heights, Stephen Curry MVP

Celtics – Warriors: 90-103

Golden State wins Finals 4-2

A demonstration to end in style. Stephen Curry and the Warriors have achieved on the Celtics floor what only the 1985 Lakers had achieved so far, namely winning the NBA title in Boston. A victory, the third in a row in this series, to accomplish an opponent who had not lost two consecutive matches since March. Again unplayable, Curry (34 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists) was logically elected MVP. A new trophy and above all a fourth ring for one of the greatest players of all time. The face of a dynasty that has returned to the top after two seasons of transition.

Why Green is the man who can deliver the title to the Warriors

The Warriors traveled to Massachusetts with the intention of finishing it off but first suffered the wrath of the Celtics. The gap was 12 points in favor of the locals after only 4 minutes (2-14). But we just had to wait for Draymond Green (12 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks) and his partners to start the machine.

They came back to score by notably passing a 21-0 straddling the end of the first quarter and the start of the second to take a 15-point lead (37-22). Ime Udoka’s players did not lower their heads, however. They came back to 8 points before suffering another burst before the break (54-39 at halftime). Curry and the Warriors responded to each prize-winning basket from their opponents to widen the gap (72-50) during the third quarter.

The Warriors did not crack

But it was precisely when the Celtics were replaced at the bottom of the hole that they restarted the machine, helped by the rediscovered address of Al Horford (19 points, 14 rebounds) and the determination of Jaylen Brown (34 points). Performances necessary to compensate for the difficulties of Jayson Tatum (13 points, 2 in the second half), muzzled by Andrew Wiggins. They finished the period on a 15-2 to recall at 10 points (76-66).

There were 12 minutes left to snatch a match 7. Or write history. Despite the awkwardness at three points, Golden State did not crack. Steve Kerr’s men are focusing on their defense to keep Boston at bay. In attack, Stephen Curry multiplied the penetrations towards the circle by constantly attacking Horford with the ball in hand. Symbolic baskets to conclude this match full of intensity. A highlight on absolutely superb finals. A royal opposition, with one individuality brighter than any other to make the difference. The Warriors weren’t gone long but they are well and truly back on top of the world.
