Monkey pox: in Madrid, the sauna suspected of being a source of contamination closes its doors

The majority of Spaniards infected with monkeypox had designated the establishment “El Paraiso”, which is closing its doors this Saturday, May 21.

While Spain has reported several dozen cases of monkeypox on its territory, the Madrid sauna suspected of being a source of contamination at its closed doors, announced the health authorities.

The majority of infected people actually spread the “El Paraiso” sauna, a gay establishment in the center of Madrid. A place wet and forcing promiscuity ideal for the spread of the virus, since the latter spreads via droplet-like secretions that infiltrate mucous membranes.

The closure of the establishment will allow “more detailed analysis” of the place, explains El Mundo. Analyzes that consisted of control infections, cut chains of transmission and preferably try to mitigate transmission of the virus wherever possible.” adds the Minister of Health of the community of Madrid.

After Galicia or the Basque Country, Catalonia, hitherto spared, announced this Friday evening the discovery of a first suspected case of Monkeypox.
