La Grangette is a High Tech indoor vegetable garden that has just been presented at Vivatech, Nicolas Ribeyre and Laurent Giraldon wanted to test this new, very connected vertical garden.
Thibaut Pradier, CEO of this Avignon-based startup, indicates that “the ultimate idea is to have an indoor vegetable garden for all kitchens”. With La Grangette, everyone will be able to grow a multitude of fresh plants and herbs at home, in their kitchen, all without effort, all year round. After more than 5 years of work on the very high-end prototype: a real showcase for our young green shoots in the kitchen. Thibault Cartier says “We created this magnificent vegetable garden, which is a bit like the Mona Lisa of indoor vegetable gardens. We won’t find it in stores, it’s only a product that we can pre-order from us”.
The model presented: a kind of concept car of the connected vertical garden
La Grangette aims to approach major household appliance manufacturers in order to release a first model by 2024. Its size should then be comparable to that of a built-in oven. LG has already started selling indoor vegetable gardens in South Korea and today all manufacturers want to do the same, at the wine cellar stage for example. La Grangette will then sell the consumable, namely small capsules with their grain and their substrate, all without the slightest trace of pesticides or herbicides. On the same principle as coffee capsules, the future city garden can choose the different types of plants that interest it. It is the smartphone that will predict it to know quad harvest or replace the plants with other capsules.
