Clean the outside of the kettle

Clean the exterior with a soft sponge. If necessary, soak the cloth in a little hot water or add a few drops of white vinegar to remove greasy or encrusted marks. Be careful, however, never to scratch or scour the surface.

To polish your stainless steel or glass kettle, use a microfiber cloth to dry well and shine the surface. Stainless steel can also be polished by passing a small drop of oil on it, to be applied with newspaper for a better result.

To descale a kettle or coffee maker, you can use a special descaling product for kettles or coffee makers. These ready-made mixtures come in the form of powder or liquid, they are composed of citric acid, lactic acid or even phosphoric acid.

If you want to clean your kettle using the least chemical products, it is possible to use natural descalers, such as baking soda, lemon juice or white vinegar.

Citric acid and acetic acid are not respectively composed of lemon juice and white vinegar have the same anti-scaling properties as commercial mixtures.

To do this, use, pour a liter of water, two teaspoons of baking soda, 33 cl of white vinegar or the juice of a lemon. Bring this mixture to a boil in your kettle and let stand for a few minutes. Then, rinse your device thoroughly to avoid parasitic tastes and you’re done!
