How to Download Photos from Google Photos

Google Photos lets you easily download one or more photos from your account to your devices. You can also upload all your photos and videos at once using Google’s Send service. We’ll show you how to use these options on your desktop and mobile.

Note that if you’re on a desktop computer, you can upload one or more photos at a time. On a mobile, on the other hand, you can only upload one photo at a time.

Save photos from Google Photos to your desktop

To download one or more photos to your desktop, try launching a web browser on your computer and opening the Google Photos site. Log in to your account if you haven’t already.

When the Photos site is launched, in the left sidebar, click on “Photos” to view all your photos.

Select “Photos” on the left.

To upload an individual photo, click on the photo to upload in the right pane. When your photo opens in full screen, in the upper right corner, click on the three dots.

Select the three dots in the upper right corner.

In the three-dot menu, click “Download” to download the photo to your computer.

Choose “Download” from the menu.

If you can save multiple photos, click the car icon in the upper left corner of a photo. Then select other photos to add them to your upload selection.

Select multiple photos.

When you have selected the photos to upload, in the upper right corner of the site, click on the three dots and choose “Upload”.

And that’s all. Your chosen photos are now saved to your computer for offline access. Enjoy!

Download images from Google Photos to your mobile

To upload a photo to your mobile device, use the free Google Photos app.

Start by launching Google Photos on your phone. In the bottom bar of the app, tap “Photos”.

Choose “Photos” at the bottom of the page.

On the “Photos” screen, select the photo to upload. Then, in the top right corner of the photo screen, tap the three dots.

Select the three dots in the upper right corner.

In the menu that appears, select “Download”.

Choose “Download”.

Google Photos will then start downloading your photo to your phone.

Download all photos and videos from Google Photos

If you want to back up all your photos and videos transferred to Google Photos, use Google’s Takeout service to download all your files to your device at once.

To use this method, launch a web browser on your device and open the Google Takeout site. Log in to your account if necessary.

After logging in, you will see a list of services from which you can download data to your device. Here, deselect all these services by clicking “Deselect All”.

Scroll down the services page and find “Google Photos”. Then activate this service by checking the box next to it.

Enable the “Google Photos” option.

Scroll down the page and click “Next Step”.

Select “Next Step” at the bottom of the page.

On the next page, click on the “Delivery method” drop-down menu and choose “Email download link”. This will take you to a link to download your Google Photos archive.

In the “Frequency” section, choose “Export once”. Click on the “File type” drop-down menu and choose “ZIP”. Then click on the “Size” drop-down menu and select “2 GB”.

Finally, at the bottom of the page, click on “Create an export”.

Google Takeout will start creating a ZIP file from all your uploaded photos and videos in Google Photos. Once this file is ready, you will receive an email with a link to download it.

And that’s how you make all your photos and videos locally available on your desktop and mobile phones. Enjoy quick and easy access to your content!

Along the same lines, you can download Google Photos albums as well as your photos from Facebook, if you wish.
