Covid in Beijing: thousands of residents forcibly placed in quarantine

China is managing the pandemic by taking drastic and coercive measures, and after Shanghai, it is Beijing’s turn to pay the price. After the discovery of 26 cases of Covid-19 in a residence, thousands of residents of the complex were forcibly placed in quarantine overnight from Friday to Saturday May 21. On social networks, several images are circulating, and an official notice has also been widely shared.

Although tested for the virus, more than 13,000 residents of the Nanxinyuan residential complex in the southeast of the capital were transported overnight to isolation hotels and threatened with reprisals if they resisted.
