The first level of the “In the kitchen” label awarded by the Ecocert organization rewards the community for its commitment to offer healthier, sustainable and local food to its youngest inhabitants.

Products from organic farming

This level 1 Ecocert “In the kitchen” label is the result of multidisciplinary collective work around a common project aimed at improving children’s health and working towards sustainable development. The cooks, the administrative agents and the early childhood professionals of the town’s crèches are involved in offering young children a diet with: more products from organic (23.8%) and local agriculture; varied and balanced quality menus, without GMOs and certain additives ; measures for sustainable development.

Constant improvement in the catering of the little ones

The desire to certify the central kitchens of the City testifies to a strong commitment on the part of the community and a desire for transparency vis-à-vis children and their parents.

Obtaining the Ecocert label is a big step forward and an encouragement for the constant improvement of the catering of the little ones, both from an environmental point of view and in terms of the preservation of health: quality of food (1/4 of biological origin), elimination of plastics and learning for an informed choice after the consumption of “good products.

Expertise from an independent external organization

This label also allows the City to benefit from the expertise of an independent external organization, specialized in auditing organic products. Work is also involved in the other collective catering services dedicated to children (16 schools) and home delivery of meals. Created in 1991, Ecocert is the French specialist in the certification of products from organic farming. It was in 2013 that the Ecocert “En Cuisine” label was developed for collective catering in order to encourage and promote the introduction of organic and local products in canteen menus.
