(CercleFinance.com) – Google announced on Wednesday evening the acquisition of Raxium, a specialist in MicroLED technologies, an operation which should enable the Internet giant to develop new generation screens.
The main subsidiary of Alphabet explains that the Raxium teams have spent almost five years designing high-resolution miniaturization technology that is as efficient from an economic point of view as it is energy efficient.
“Raxium’s technical expertise in this area will play a key role in our continued efforts to invest in digital hardware,” Google said.
MicroLED uses micrometer-sized LEDs that generate light right from the pixel structure and reproduce 100% of the defined colors, resulting in a realistic, true-to-life image.
Raxium, now based in Fremont, California, will join Google’s Devices & Services branch.
